Contract Position: 2020 DC Calls It Quits Event Coordinator

DC Tobacco Free Coalition (DCTFC) seeks an Event Coordinator for a contract position beginning in June and ending on September 30. The Coordinator will provide expert project management skills in support of the DC Calls It Quits (DCCiQ) Week Summit (the summit) and related mini-events happening throughout the week. This year’s DCCiQ Week is September 20-26. It is being planned as a virtual event series. The successful Coordinator candidate will have experience planning, promoting and executing virtual events. The summit will take place on Thursday, September 24th. In the past, it has been a half-day event rallying District of Columbia tobacco control experts, activists and allies to champion effective tobacco control initiatives and interventions in the District. This year our goal is to deliver the same experience online to attendees using a multi-day format.

Coordinator’s responsibilities:

  • Serve as project manager for the DCCiQ week event series and summit, including liaising with event committee and subcommittees, managing schedules and timelines, working with DCTFC coordinator to develop and procure materials, working with DCTFC coordinator to promote the event via social media, other project management duties as assigned

  • Organize and manage promotional items and marketing materials, including any in inventory

  • Create weekly performance reports for the event and related marketing efforts

  • Provide support and coordination of the DC Calls It Quits week partner events calendar and collection of partner logos

  • Other DCCiQ support as needed

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of event coordination and project management experience

  • Excellent project management skills with high attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional problem solving and creative skills

Compensation: This is a part-time contract position ending September 30, 2020. Compensation of $25/hour, averaging 8 to 12 hours per week, not to exceed 120 hours for the duration of the contract.
